Why I made this:
This is one of the first things I ever painted back in 2022. I started painting on water bottles that were more of a wine bottle shape because the little taper at the neck and the curving edge around the bottom were very helpful analogs for the especially challenging areas to paint on a bike. Plus! Those bottles came from Goodwill, so I could get a lot of them really easily and really cheap. 

When I wanted to work on a more consistent surface, I bought a case of MiiR bottles on eBay and got to work playing around with what I could do with a cleaner, simpler shape. That fiddling around brought me into a more official collaboration with MiiR, and from there on, I had as many bottles to work with as I wanted. It was heaven! This series is my first steps towards where I am now. Seeing how much color or pattern I could sustainably produce was key. At the time, these were really, really hard for me! Eventually, I shifted the style and found ways to make the art production process more complex while at the same time making it easier to navigate.

This small group of pieces are a real look back down the trail for me - going all the way back to where I started. They were the first steps towards the scaling and playfulness and repetition that typify my work today.

Living with this piece:
The clear coat feels really good under the fingers, but the texture of the paint still stands out just a little bit. If you've always wanted to touch the art in a museum, you're really going to love this feature of my work.
