Why I made this: Starting my day with peace, joy, and gratitude is super important to me, and I hope this mug will bring you to the same place. In this particular piece, the black pills on magenta is an element that I really like. Both colors are really strong, but they're pulling in opposite directions. The magenta is one of the strongest, poppiest colors I have, and the black is obviously one of the richest and darkest. I really enjoy seeing what happens when I put them together. Sometimes the black brings out the pop in the pink and pumps it up even higher. Sometimes the pink brings out the depth of the black and shows how dark it can be.
Living with this piece: The smooth, satiny clear coat feels really good under the fingers, but the texture of the paint still stands out just a little bit. If you've always wanted to touch the art in a museum, you're really going to love this feature of my work.
