1st Edition; 16oz MiiR 360 Traveler bottle Run of 20 pieces
Why I made this: Back in 2020 or so, I started painting on water bottles because I needed to practice the techniques for painting bikes. It turned out that a wine bottle-ish shape was perfect because the little taper at the neck and the curving edge around the bottom were very helpful analogs for the especially challenging areas to paint on a bike. Plus I could get them from Goodwill, so I could get a lot of them really easily and really cheap.
When I wanted to work on a more consistent surface, I bought a case of MiiR bottles on eBay and got to work playing around with what I could do with a cleaner, simpler shape. That fiddling around brought me into a more official collaboration with MiiR, and this design is what I put together for my first ever collaboration project. I had about 6,500 Instagram followers at the time, and it blew my mind that my spray painting would even possibly take me anywhere. We did a whole photoshoot! There was a whole special section on the website! I really couldn't believe it.
As MiiR was doing inventory, they found one last case of the bottles we produced together, and they very graciously sent it to me. I'm keeping a couple for myself, but the remaining 20 are now available.
Living with this piece: Cup holder compatible, leakproof drinking lid, this guy is ready to take anywhere. The printing feels really good under the fingers. If you've always wanted to touch the art in a museum, you're really going to love this feature of my work.
