MiiR 360 Traveler #18
I painted these MiiR 360 Travelers in early 2022, and the collection is a good picture of the artist I was at that time. Playing with color combinations a lot, constantly looking for new shapes and patterns, and practicing my spray technique.
This was the largest collection that I had painted up to that time. In total there were 96 pieces, so working at a larger scale meant maintaining organization and quality for the 672 sprays it would take to complete the collection (1 spray for each solid color section and 2 sprays for each of the patterned sections...on 96 pieces). I realized early on that I had bitten off quite a bit more than I could chew, but the practice that I put down in these pieces is what made it possible for me to go on tour to Europe and nail the execution when there is no time for errors or repainting.
One distinctive trait that ties these to an earlier period is that the edges are a bit thicker than what I produce now. At the time, I was still searching for a spray order that would help me achieve all the color combinations I wanted while also avoiding situations where I would have to overspray light colors to cover dark colors.
Many of the tumblers are quite close to the quality that I am now able to achieve, but I priced them all to reflect slightly frayed or chipped edges that don't meet the standards I stick to now. I hope you enjoy them despite their imperfections. It's a pleasure to look back and see how much I've grown in just a few years.
16oz MiiR 360 Traveler; Hand wash only for the tumbler, lid is top rack dishwasher safe.
