What does this sign even mean? What's allowed? What's not? Is this place open or closed? Can I park here? (Which is a question Milanese never ask themselves, by the way)

One icon that especially caught my eye was the SOS button in my mother in-law's elevator. Partly because I liked it and partly because I perceived a not-insignificant risk that the elevator could get stuck, and we might actually need it. The retro-y, analog phone was a shape I fell in love with, and I knew that I wanted to make a painting with it.

12 Phones is a practice piece for 406 Phones, a huge, 60" X 30" painting. The art production process for these pieces is both really interesting and really challenging because it's made like a massive screenprint with up to 16 colors on each of the two layers.

This 8" X 10" painting is one of three full quality renderings at this size. The larger 60" X 30" version, 406 Phones, was really successful, so there may not be further 8" X 10" pieces coming along in the future.

Living with this piece:
The matte clear coat feels really good under the fingers, but the texture of the paint still stands out just a little bit. If you've always wanted to touch the art in a museum, you're really going to love this feature of my work.

On this piece, I left the paper protecting the art board in place because I wanted to leave the multicolored edge in place. If you would like me to remove it, let me know, and the white border is in place underneath. Email me, and we can work it out.

Technical details & care:
Original 8" X 10" painting by Curtis Bullock
Acrylic spray paint on aluminum bonded to a wood panel
Varnished with matte clear coat
Arrives ready to hang framed in a beautiful Ampersand floating frame
1 of 1

C.
