Some these bottles in this series came to me directly from MiiR, others are overstock that I purchased from another retailer on closeout, and some of them got roped into this series because they were failed projects that needed to get sanded down and repainted. In these paintings, I was testing my vinyl's ability to prevent color bleed as it wraps around tight corners, and I was also testing how much my bonding agent might squeeze out underneath the aluminum. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eProcess-wise, I was weighing two options: Paint the aluminum first and then bond it to the wood panel, or bond the aluminum to the panel so that it can be painted in place. I love the huge variety of outcomes that my relatively simple idea can achieve - each of these pieces is comprised of a stripe section, a solid section, and two pattern sections.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThese pieces are discounted because of a surface preparation error, the result of which is that the paint did not adhere as well as it should have. The original finish on the bottle that MiiR applied is 1st quality; the error came in my decoration process. Still totally usable, but know that the finish will not last like it should. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eI learned a lot by making this mistake - first and foremost, how to fully vet a process change before scaling up. Even if it seems like a familiar 'same-but-different' shift, I have to start from the beginning of the process and re-affirm that each step along the way is going to be a success.
